Galapagos Hawks

One of the many species endemic to the Galapagos is the Galapagos Hawk.  They are sometimes hard to spot in the brush but fairly common to see flying around on several of the islands.  A majestic sight to be sure.  This one was flying above the cliffs on the island of  Espanola.

When you are lucky enough to see one out in the open, it is often possible to get pretty close to them – great photo opportunities as with this one we saw sitting on a lava outcropping right along the shoreline!

    • Thanks! We actually had several good sitings. On our last day we saw 6 of them flying together. Got some decent pics there also.
