Sharing moments in time…

Animal faces of the Galapagos….

As we get ready to leave on another photographer’s dream journey, I thought I’d finish up on our Galapagos trip with some close-ups of the locals.  There were so many distinctive countenances that I had a hard time choosing which to post but these are some of my favorites….

Swallow Tailed Gull

These guys were a frequent sight but were very noticeable due to the red ring around their eyes.  Interestingly enough, they only have that red ring during mating season (prom time) and for the rest of the year they have more of a black eye look – also maybe received at the prom….

Red Footed Booby

To stay in the high school analogies, this guy looked like the school nerd – with No date for the prom.  This was one of the first pictures I took on the islands but I still like the bewildered stare…..

Land Iguana

Next is the captain of the football team – sly smile, colorful jersey, and slightly bloodshot eyes indicating a little too much partying after winning the homecoming game.

Galapagos Giant Turtle

Next is the good natured, but kinda slow, kid that every school has – this one caught during a mad dash to avoid gym class

And lastly, the class clown who would do anything for a laugh and was always on the teachers S-list..

Nature’s variety constantly surprises and inspires me. I love the personalities you captured in these photos, as well as the eye make-up on those birds! 🙂

    • Rach – thanks for looking back at some of my older photos – it was in preparation for that Galapagos trip that I decided to take up photography!
