Weekly Photo Challenge: Winter

Living in San Diego, we’re a little “challenged” for winter photos so I had to dig into the archives to find some from last year’s ski trips.  This first one was taken near Lake Tahoe.  We were driving to a ski area when I noticed a coyote in a field.  With my current fixation on wildlife photos, this one says winter to me….

Winter morning rest stop

But then again, as a skier, I had to include one other photo taken at the Solitude Ski area in Utah.  It tries to capture the skier’s dream of being able to cut that first set of tracks in the deep powder on a crystal clear winter morning run.

  10. Beautiful photos. I love the squiggle in the snow especially. Happy New Year Scott. 2012 will be the year of a Nat Geo entry!

    • Marina – I liked the fact that both photos have “tracks” in them. I am starting to look for places to send pictures to – all to lead up to “the entry”. Have trips planned to Wyoming, Colorado, Fiji, Alaska, and New Mexico to provide material….

My best wishes to you for a very Happy and Healthy New Year!!

That coyote is gorgeous and majestic. These photos are a lovely celebration of winter. What I love about fresh snow is to be able to see all of the creatures that have passed by and leaving a trail when any other time of the year I’d never have known.
