Weekly Photo Challenge: Down

As in lying down.  I happened to get this photo this morning at the San Diego Zoo.  The first time I walked by the Polar Bear enclosure, they were nowhere to be found.  The second pass had this guy up and playing around and then eating.  Then he was plum tuckered out and had to take a nap.  Unfortunately, the subject of this challenge also reminds me that the polar bear numbers are also down and we don’t seem to be moving very fast to save them – hopefully we will wake up as quickly as this big boy will.

Down but not out?

I apologize for the political note but I hate to think of a world where these creatures are gone.

    • Jennifer – I feel the same way. Its one of the reason I love wildlife photography – getting to know the subjects a little and hopefully bringing their beauty to others that my not have the same opportunity to see them.

He might be a “little guy” but his paws are certainly huge!
I’m with you – I hope that we can do something to save this majestic creature in the wild.
Any thoughts about traveling to photograph them in their natural habitat?

    • We almost signed up for a snowmobile tour in Norway to go see them but we couldn’t swing it at that time. We may still get there in the future.
