Camera test shots – Tandem Flight & portrait

Hi everyone.  Just time to post two quick test shots that I took at the beach this morning with a new camera I’m trying out.  I know I’ve posted pelican shots before but they  are one of my favorite test subjects.

Drafting the breezes

The next is just a laid back shot of this beautiful (if ungainly) resting gent…

If you don’t mind, what kind of camera did you use. Beautiful photos.

    • Bill,
It is the new Nikon full frame D600. It operates similar to my D7000 but with greater resolution. For a first outing with the camera and my Sigma 150-500, I’m pretty happy with it.

    • Thanks Cheyl – Still experimenting but it offers some great capabilities – I’ll probably “have to” keep it….

  7. I don’t often think of pelicans as graceful, but your shots show otherwise, especially with the beautiful extension of their wings.
Once I was snorkeling in shallow waters and a pelican came skimming low across the water looking for food I suppose. I noticed the giant shadow on the sand beneath the wave and got nervous that he was coming for me! Very intimidating!

    • Jackie – it is amazing how they transform from the ungainly land creatures they are to the graceful fliers that they also are…
