Weekly Photo Challenge: In the Background

Hi everyone – still on my way back home from Yellowstone and hadn’t posted for the challenge this week.  I was taking photos at the famous Mormon Barn in Jackson, Wyoming – widely considered the most photographed barn in the world.  I was thinking of what I could do differently from all the other photos of this barn, and also considering this week’s challenge.  I saw this little ground squirrel running around and decided to make him (or her) the subject and use the Barn and the magnificent Grand Teton mountains as the background.  This is the result…..

Little fella steals the attention from the iconic background?

I don’t think the little creature stole anything. The barn and mountains have the show and they are beautiful “background”. Perfect for b&w.

    • Thanks Pat – I think of it as one of those photos which can appeal on both levels – the scenic magnificence of the barn and mountain landscape and the interest of the life of the small creatures that we very rarely think much about….

And you’re right – this is a photo that was okay in color, became much more interesting in B&W (at least in my opinion)

    • Cheryl,
Nope, he pretty much just sat there as I laid down on the ground about 10 feet away to take the shot…must be hoping to become a model…
