Weekly Photo Challenge: Half Light

I read this week’s challenge and decided to take the easy way out and choose a “Half-lit” photo.  It was an easy decision as I immediately thought of one of my recent Japan photos.  We stayed in the Gion district of Kyoto for a few days and really enjoyed the sight of Japanese folk in their traditional clothing – enjoying the evenings and taking “selfies” of each other.  I’m not much for selfies but it was a good chance to catch some candid shots of traditionally dressed young folk in this picturesque old geisha district.  I took this photo in the late afternoon with long shadows yielding a mixed lighting challenge.  I managed to capture this young lady on the steps of a shrine with the dappled lighting adding drama to the scene while highlighting her colorful outfit.  This is one of my favorite people candids of our trip.
