The National Geographic site puts out “photo assignments” as kind of a challenge and a means to collect and turn photos into stories. I have never submitted any photos before but this morning’s topic was Nature in Black and White. I took a quick look back through some of my Tanzania photos of the large lion pride that we saw on our first evening there. I hadn’t done a version of any of the single cubs in B&W so I thought I’d process this one. I’ll let you be the judge of how it turned out.
Its been a while since I posted one of these candid portraits. This one was taken in a train station near Satupura, India. This was one of thousands of photo ops that were available during our layover there. I thought it was interesting because of the woman’s strong presence even though she was of very modest means and clothing. The very young puppy lying near her only added to the scene which was strongly lit in the shadows of the station.
I took this near Jackson, Wyoming on my trip back from Yellowstone. There is an area with several of these old ghost structures. They are also just down the road from the “Mormon Barns” that are well known subjects for photographers. Expect a shot of them in the near future…..
