Sharing moments in time…

Bear stare

looking for some not-so-fast food?

Since I seem to be posting a lot of eye-to-eye animal pics over the last week or so, I went back to see if I had another Brown Bear shot exchanging direct looks (that I hadn’t posted yet).  This big fella had just made a charge after a salmon (that he missed) and just glanced back as if to say “I’ll get the next one”.  At least thats my interpretation – it could also be “let me see….those things are bigger and slower…I wonder what they taste like?”.

Wow, that is awesome…it is funny trying to think of what they might be thinking.

    • Obrien,
It was amazingly easy to humanize (is that a word?) what they might be thinking. You have to keep reminding yourself that their motivations and behavior are MUCH different than ours so that you maintain the proper respect for these incredible creatures. Welcome to my photo adventures – I see that you have also recently gotten “the bug”.

    • Hi Maggie, Once you see these guys move in person, it doesn’t take long to realize that running is not an option. They are amazingly fast!

  3. Just out of curiousity, how close are you when you take those pictures? Just wondering, because that is one very intense look he’s got! It’s a beautiful picture though, so I’m quite happy you captured it and shared it with us!

    • Dounia – I was about 15 yards away when I took this particular photo. Although he looks interested, neither my wife nor I ever had one moment where we felt uneasy or in danger.
